Smoak, USA Settle For Silver Medal

Smoak represented the tying run when he came to the plate in the bottom of the 9th but he flied out to center to end the game. USA was 4-1 at the Pan Am games.
Here's the breakdown of Smoak's at-bats in the game:
2nd Inn: Ground out to short
4th: RBI single
7th: Struckout
9th: Flied to center.
Team USA has little time to rest. They start a five-game series against China Sunday night at Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile, Ala. The final game is scheduled for Fri., July 27 at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill, S.C. It's the only game USA will play in South Carolina this summer.

South Carolina's Justin Smoak drove in Team USA's only run in a 3-1 loss to Cuba Friday in the gold medal game at the 2007 Pan Am Games in Rio de Janeiro, BRA. Smoak was 1-for-4 with a run-scoring single in the fourth inning. USA managed just five hits and left three runners on base.
