9:45 - USC down in order in the B7. Will Casey now pitching for USC. Two singles open the 8th for Yale. Strikeout. There's a 2-run double to RF. It's 11-4 USC. There's a P-6 for the third out. We go to the bottom of the 8th with USC ahead, 11-4.
9:30 - We're in the top of the 7th. USC leads 11-2. They added one more run inthe 6th after Darnell's grand slam. 11 batters came to the plate. 5 scored. The way Wideberg is pitching, this one looks like it's going in the W column. 1-2-3 in the top of the 7th. We go to the bottom of the 7th with USC leading, 11-2.
9:20 - GRAND SLAM FOR DARNELL!! USC Leads 10-2 in the bottom of the 6th. USC had loaded the bases on two walks and an error on a sacrifice. The Gamecocks have broken it open. Darnell's FIRST homer of the season. That's the way to snap out of the slump.
:10 - Wideberg retires the next three batters after the HBP. We go to the bottom of the 6th with USC leading 6-2.
9:00 The bottom of the 5th is finally over. USC scored 4 runs to take a 6-2 lead. 9 batters came to the plate. Wideberg still pitching for USC. HBP to first Yale batter.
8:55 - Darnell walks with the bases loaded. Run scores. It's 4-2. There's a SF to RF by Lail. Smoak scores. It's 5-2. Single by Mack to RF. The Yale RF couldn't make the sliding catch. Anotehr run scores. It's 6-2 USC. Four runs here in the bottom of the fifth have broken it open for USC.
8:50 - We're still in the bottom of the 5th. USC has the bases loaded with 1 out. Pitching change for Yale. Darnell up. He singled the last time up.
8:40 - Solo homer by Wingo! Wow. First of the year. USC leads 3-2 in the bottom of the 5th. Ray Tanner must be one surprised coach in the dugout. Havens singles, extending his hitting streak to 13 games.
8:35 - Another strikeout. Career high 6 K's for Wideberg. We go to the bottom of the 5th with the score tied at 2-2.
8:30 - USC scores a run to tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the 4th. Crisp singled home Lail, who had reached on a fielder's choice. Wideberg is throwing BB's here in the top of the 5th. Two strikeouts already. That's 4 in a row. Two-out single.
8:20 - Wideberg issues the fifth walk of the night by USC pitchers but he also has a pair of K's. 2 outs in the top of the 4th. Double steal. Second and third. Strike three! Wideberg gets out of it without any real damage. We go to the bottom of the 4th with Yale ahead, 2-1.
8:15 - Dyson gives up a single to open the 4th. Here comes Tanner. That's it for Dyson. 3 Inn., 3 hits, 4 walks. New P is Sean Wideberg. Yale leads 2-1 here is the top of the 4th. Runner on 1st.
8:05 - Controversy here in the bottom of the 3rd. Merrifield called out at first when it appeared he was safe. Tanner is out arguing. The ump doesn't change the call. Oh well. One out. Smoak up. L-3. Enders flies out. We go to the 4th with Yale leading, 2-1.
7:55 - Dyson is struggling again here in the 3rd. Yale has already scored a run on a SF to CF. Yale has runners at the corners with 2 outs. There's the third walk of the inning. Yale has the bases loaded. K for the 3rd out! Yale leaves the bases loaded. We go to the bottom of the 3rd with Yale leading, 2-1.
7:45 - USC out 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 2nd without the ball leaving the infield. We go to the 3rd with the score tied at 1-1.
7:35 - Yale scores a run here in the top of the 2nd on a walk and 2B to LCF. It's 1-1. Yale has a runner at third with 1 out. Yale tries a suicide squueze! The runner is tagged out! USC catches a break there. There's another double. Dyson getting hit hard here in the top of the 2nd. Nice play by Wingo on 4-3 for the 3rd out. We go to the bottom of the 2nd with the scored tied at 1-1.
7:22 - We're still in the bottom of the 1st. USC has the bases loaded with 2 outs. Mack is up. The Yale coach comes out for a chat. We're back to baseball. 4-3 groundout. USC scores 1 run. We go to the top of the 2nd with USC leading 1-0.
7:15 - We're in the bottom of the 1st. Merrifield walked on a 3-2 pitch. Smaok rips a pitch into the RF corner for a double. Merrifield scores. It's 1-0 USC. Enders up.
7:05 - We're underway at SFF. Sam Dyson pitching for USC. He works a perfect top of the 1st. Two groundouts and a K. He looks good early. We go to the bottom of the 1st, 0-0.
6:30 - We're live from Darge Frye Field for tonight's USC-Yale baseball game, the second of a two-game series. USC will try to make up for last night's dismal performance in a 5-3 loss when little went right. RFr. Sam Dyson, who's struggled a bit in his first two appearances, is USC's scheduled starting pitcher. The weather is beautiful here at Srage Frye Field. He's 1-0 with a 13.50 ERA. He's walked three in 0.2 IP. He needs to throw strikes tonight. This is a big start for him. he has to show he can do the job. Tanner is counting on him this season.

The big news is Merrifield is back to second in the order after several games hitting ninth. He and Wingo, who didn't start last night, have essentially switched spots. Darnell has been dropped to fifth as his struggles continue. He's batting .216 with 0 HR and 12 RBI.
