9:35 - Wingo K's. Havens walks. Runner on 1st, 1 out in the bottom of the 9th. Yale coach is out for a chat with his infield. Mack up. He strikes out. 2 outs.
9:30 - P-4 for the final out in the top of the 9th. We go to the bottom of the 9th with Yale leading, 5-3. USC needs a big rally here. Wingo, Havens, Mack due. Let's see what happens.
9:25 - Farotto pitching for USC. Two-out walk. SB. Runner on 2nd, 2 outs. There's a base hit to LF. Run scores. Yale leads 5-3. Those 2-out walks will kill you!
9:20 - Crisp drives one to the LF wall but it's caught for the 3rd out. WE GO TO THE NINTH INNING. USC trails, 4-3.
9:15 - Two-out triple by Yale doesn't hurt USC as Hopper gets a 4-3 to end the inning. We go to the bottom of the 8th. Yale leads, 4-3. Lail, Disher, Crisp due.
9:10 - One run is all USC gets in the bottom of the 7th. We go to the 8th with USC trailing by a run, 4-3.
9:00 - Mack wallops a long HR to RF! USC now trails 4-3 with 1 out in the bottom of the 7th. Darnell walks. New pitcher for Yale. LHP to face Smoak. F-9.
8:55 - Hopper gets out of the 7th without further damage. We go to the bottom of the 7th with Yale ahead, 4-2.
8:52 - First batter for Yale in the 7th wallops a long HR to LF off Hopper. Yale now leads 4-2.
8:50 - Top of the 7th. Wingo stays in the game and goes to 2B. Crisp moves to CF. New pitcher is Justin Hopper. Bangs 2.2 IP, 7 K's.
8:45 - Enders on second with 1 outs. He walked and was sacrificed by Lail. Disher 5-3. Two outs. There's a base hit to LF by Crisp! Enders scores. It's 3-2 Yale. Wingo PH for Merrifield. P-5. We go to the 7th with USC trailing, 3-2.
8:40 - Another K for Bangs. He has a very good sweeping curveball. Lotof break to that thing. Yale leaves the bases loaded. Bangs has 7 K's in 2.2 IP. 7 of the 8 out's he's recorded have come via the strikeout. We go to the bottom of the 6th with USC down, 3-1. New pitcher for Yale.
8:35 - Yale has runners at 1&2, 2 outs in the 6th. Two singles sandwich a pair of strikeouts. There's an infield single to SS. Bases loaded with 2 outs. Tanner out for a visit. Bangs needs to get out of this without Yale scoring.
8:30 - The bottom of the 5th ends with strikeouts by Darnell and Smoak. We go to the top of the 6th with USC trailing, 3-1.
8:20 - Bangs blunders by balking home a run from third. That's 2 balks by USC pitchers in the game. He did a good job minimizing the damage with three K's.
Yale leads 3-1 in the middle of the 5th.
8:15 - Scary moment here at SFF. After a single and 2-base error on Merrifield, Bangs hit the next Yale batter in the helmet with a pitch. The batter went down but is now at first. Yale has runners on the corners with 0 outs. They're leading 2-1 in the top of the 5th.
8:10 - Merrifield flies out to deep LF to end the bottom of the 4th. Disher walked and went to second on a wild pitch, but that was it. We go to the top of the 5th with Yale leading, 2-1.
8:00 - Bangs escapes further trouble with a K and L-5 with the bases full. We go to the bottom of the 4th with Yale leading, 2-1. Both teams have 3 hits.
7:52 - Consecutive singles has plated another run and given Yale a 2-1 lead here in the 4th. Here comes Tanner. That's it for Godwin. New pitcher is RHP Parker Bangs.
7:45 - Godwin has encountered some trouble here in the 4th. He walked the leadoff batter before a wild pitch and balk moved him to third. There's another walk. Runners on the corners, 0 outs. 5-4 FC scores the run. We're tied at 1-1. No hits yet for Yale in the inning.
7:40 - 6-4-3 DP by Enders ends the USC 3rd. We go to the top of the 4th with USC leading, 1-0. Godwin has faced 1 over the minimum through 3 Inn.
7:35 - Godwin gave up a 1-out 2B to left but a K and 5-3 ended the inning. Godwin has 4 K's through 3 Inn. USC leads 1-0 in the middle of the 3rd. Darnell leads off for USC.
7:30 - Nothing more for USC inthe bottom of thr 2nd. We go to the top of the 3rd with USC leading, 1-0. The Gamecocks left 2 runners on base in the 2nd, which has been a problem in recent games. Godwin has been perfect through 2 Inn.
7:25 - Lail leads off the bottom of thre 2nd with a solo HR to LF. That's his second HR of the season. USC leads 1-0. Disher follows with an infield single.
7:20 - Top of the 2nd. Another perfect inning for Godwin, 3 up, 3 down. He had 2 K's in that inning. We go to the bottom of the 2nd, 0-0.
7:10 - Havens extends his hitting streak to 12 games with a single. USC now has runners at 1&2 with 2 outs. Smoak walked for the 12th time. Enders up. P-4 on first pitch. We go to the 2nd tied at 0-0.
7:00 - We're underway at Sarge Frye. Godwin on the mound for USC. He works a perfect top of the 1st. We go to the bottom of the 1st, 0-0. Havens will leadoff for USC.
6:20 - We're here at Sarge Frye Field for Tuesday night's USC-Yale baseball game. This is the first game of a two-game series. The teams will play another game Wednesday at 7 p.m. Here is USC's starting lineup for tonight's game:

The biggest change is inserting Mack into the lineup and putting him at the second spot. Wingo has been given the night off. Crisp will make his second start of the season at 2B. Darnell is batting .234, so he needs to pick it up. He hasn't hit a HR yet.
