6:55 - We're awaiting the start of the show.
OPENING SEGMENT:
7:10 - Nice practice today. Rain had subsided by the time the team hit the practice field today. They practiced at WBS. But it wasn’t a “super duper” practice. With Chris Culliver suspended for the first half, Akeem Auguste pulled a hamstring and will be no better than 85 to 90 percent. Dion LeCorn will likely start at free safety. USC must run the ball to beat the Gators on Saturday. "If we play well offensively, we can move the ball on these guys." UF is very good on special teams, and that will be a crucial part of the game. Both QB’s will play, though if one is playing well, he’ll stay in.
SECOND SEGMENT:
7:20 - UF defense is playing great right now. They are leading the conference in scoring defense. Charlie Strong has done a great job. UF has great players and done a good job with recruiting. But they still have to play well. USC has a chance to do what Ole Miss did in the 31-30 win in Sept. USC will use a silent count to combat the crowd noise. USC hasn't played in a really loud stadium this season. UK wa sprobably the loudest. USC won't try to audible. QB's must think quickly and know where everybody is going. QB's must get rid of the ball. SOS is happy USC is on CBS again. There will be a segment re: SOS on ESPN College GameDay on Sat. morning.
THIRD SEGMENT:
7:30 - The first caller of the night asked if USC might line up Garcia wide and then throw a lateral across the field. SOS laughed that the caller wanted to know the game plan. SOS mentioned that one of the newspapers in Little Rock quoted a Arkansas coach as being disappointed that USC was able to run the ball 11 straight times.
Second caller asked how the weather might affect the game. SOS said there was a 40 percent chance of rain. SOS said he wouldn't mind that becuase it slows team down and put more of the gameon the defense's shoulders.
Third caller asked about Dion LeCorn. He also asked if Garcia would play most of the game. Spurrier said no, that SG was behind Smelley right now. Once SG proved himself in practice, he would play more.
FOURTH SEGMENT:
7:40 - The fourth caller asked about audibling. SOS said the QB's are encouraged to audible. Smelley did audible on one play last week. SOS talked about Jordin Lindsey's interception last week. SOS decided to start running ball with a 2-TD lead becuase he wanted to consume clock and run it down.
The fifth caller asked about Weslye Saunders and how USC can keep the UF offense off the field. SOS must scored TD's in the red zone, sustain possession and score in the red zone. UF has blocked a number of kicks. The key to the game is not five UF anything. SOS said Saunders had a great game against Arkansas with his blocking.
The sixth caller asked about "changing the culture." SOS said he isn't too concerned about that. SOS is happy to be 7-3 after 1-2 start. He insisted USC can play with UF if they don't make mistakes. SOS said USC hasn't "turned the corner" yet but theor getting there.
FIFTH SEGMENT:
7:50 - SOS doesn't like talking about facing Florida. It's all about USC's players v. UF's players.
The seventh caller asked about C.C. Whitlock. But SOS said he has had a lot of issues re: commitment level when it comes to going to class, working out, etc. But Whitlock does have a lot of ability.
The eighth caller asked if SOS took the players on a tour of the opposing stadium when they went on the road. SOs said no. He said USC was going to the Swamp "to win a ballgame" and that's what was most important.
SIXTH SEGMENT:
7:55 - SOS said recruiting is going well. SOS said Ryan Succop "is back in mid-season form" and has been kicking well. His misses have been from the right hash. SOS said USC must take the field believing they can win. No penalties on offense like last week. SOS mentioned multiple times that USC was 5-2 at home in 2008.
