OPENING SEGMENT: Spurrier hasn’t arrived yet. Now he’s there. Spurrier said he believes the team, will be ready to play and make the final home game memorable. SOS wants the offense to play better. Garcia and Smelley were both “OK” in practice. Garcia doesn’t know it all “mentally.” Chris Smelley has had a good week of practice. SOS said he will decide who starts on Saturday based on pre-game warm-ups. Spurrier was asked if he has been too hard on Garcia. He said no. SOS said it’s the South Carolina show, not the Garcia show. SOS favorably compared Arkansas to Kentucky. He expects a tough game.
SECOND SEGMENT: Spurrier said Arkansas is down a little bit in terms of talents, but not by much. They could easily be 6-3 instead of 4-5. USC is just concerned about playing hard.
The first caller asked about the team’s focus. SOS reminded the caller that Tennessee is 3-6, so it wasn’t a great win.
The second caller asked about Bobby Wallace. Spurrier said he wasn’t going to get into criticism of players. He deflected the question and started talking about Mike Davis.
THIRD SEGMENT: The third caller asked about the splits between the offensive linemen. Spurrier and host Todd Ellis hinted you can't run wide splits in the SEC because the defenses are too good.
The fourth caller thanked SOS and said he would get it done. SOS said that's what he hoped to accomplish. But the offense needs to crank it up.
FOURTH SEGMENT: Spurrier was asked about the kicking game. He mentioned that Saturday will be the final home game for PK Ryan Succop. So, who will replace him? Spurrier said there is a kicker by the name of Adam Yates from Sparks, MD who could be the kickoff guy next season.
FIFTH SEGMENT: Spurrier said USC is just “a few players away” from competing for the SEC Championship and beating teams like Florida and Georgia on a consistent basis. Arkansas has won the SEC West several times and competed in the SEC Championship game.
SIXTH SEGMENT: Spurrier said freshman QB Aramis Hillary had a knee "scoped" recently. He also talked about Reid McCollum and the quirk in his class schedule that prevent him from participating in team meetings or practice on Monday and Wednesday. Spurrier is clearly irritated by that.
