FIRST SEGMENT: Spurrier said today is really "Thursday" on the weekly calendar. Said it's not that difficult to get ready. No days off for the players. Classes take a backseat on Thur. Players will attend class on Wed. No classes on Thur. Ladi Ajiboye will be back thsi week after 3-game suspension. He has done well. Has helped USC's depth at DT. Everyone should be ready. Antonio Allen has not been cleared to play because of a slight concussion. He is doubtful.
SECOND SEGMENT: Ole Miss has 8-game winning streak. QB Jevan Snead is one of the best. Lots of seniors. OM is No. 4/5 in polls. USC is unranked. Yet, OM is just 3-point favorites. We won't put them on a pedestal. USC played well last year. USC is looking for a complete effort. He wants all 3 facets to play well in the same game - offense, defense, special teams. yelling and screaming. USC has some players who could be great players if they picked it up a notch.
USC has "complete faith" in the defense despite struggling the past 2 games. USC is strugglingon third downs. But shut FAU down in the 2H. Had a bunch of guys in there that haven't played much at all. Of the 15 scorig drives by OM, 5 have been 50 yards or less. Kickoff coverage must improve.
THIRD SEGMENT: Spurrier said USC will try to take advantage of the taller receivers. USC tries to throw it 3 yards inside the sidelines. That why, receiver has a chance even if it's a jump ball. USC was better inthe red zone v. FAU. Whether a NFL team will take a chance on Tebow is undetermined. They will have to design a new offense. USC has had success with wide receiver screens. Will USC throw it to Bryce Sherman? USC works on those plays. Might happen Thur. night. Plexico Burress faced UF in bowl game in '99 whenhe played at Michigan State.
FOURTH SEGMENT: USC will try that reverse play which Moe Brown broke off for 50 yards on the first play against FAU about once or twice per game. USC needs to bury teams when they jump up ahead. Depth on D-Line: Nathan Pepper is scheduled to play after missing the FAU game and most of the UGA game. Our D-Line is getting healthy.
FIFTH SEGMENT: O-Line run blocking was good againt FAU. But pass blocking must improve. Wolford is stressing perfection. A lot of players don't try to do things the way they're coached. Spurrier is irritated by that. Garcia sometimes holds the ball with just one hand. TJ Johnson has played well at guard. Spurrier wants some of the players to play with more effort. Will McCollum be ready if something happens to Garcia? ball has been slipping out of hie hand. Reid has been trying. I hope he was more ready to play but he's not. McCollum could have played more but SOS not prone to put in subs. Norwood is one of the best players inthe country. Very active. Loves to play. Loves to hit people. Glad he came back. The right one came back.
SIXTH SEGMENT: Long passes by Garcia? Caller says they are "nerve-wracking." Working with SG on his fundamentals. They were not very good in FAU game. Slipping back to old habits. SG has had a pretty good week of practice. USC has lost a lot of yards in kicking game. Not much blocking in kickoff returns. Blocking the back by a freshman. he sort of lokked at coaches funny. USC is not the smartest team around.
SEVENTH SEGMENT: Chris Culliver should be able to play Thur. night despite shoulder injury. Stewart has a shoulder stinger but should play. He has had a number of interceptions slip through his hands. SOS hopes the crowd will be ready to go screaming and yelling. Keys to the game: Wonderful opportunity. No other competition on TV. Showcase USC. Hope to play best game of the year.
